A couple of years ago I designed and built a prototype game in Flash called #Breakforcist (the breakfast exorcist), a fast-paced progressive/endless breakout game where you rescue breakfast from spirit possession, to showcase at PRGE. It was a lot of fun, but I ultimately decided I wanted to shelve it and just focus on design and not on the programming/development side. Well, before I left Portland I met up with Kevin of Lucid Sheep Games - we really hit it off and decided we wanted to work on some projects together this summer! He's helping me pick up #Breakforcist where I left off, with a little bit of redesign to fit with my current aesthetic. We've got a rough version built and maybe 50-60% playable right now, and it's already a lot of fun! I'm still designing and building assets, it's a slightly more tedious endeavor than I originally thought, but I'm slowly getting it done and the game is coming together. Our plan is to launch a free-to-play web version at some point this summer, and then work on an expanded version for mobile afterward that we may crowdfund - including a full soundtrack! Stay tuned here and hashtag #breakforcist on Twitter for updates! For now enjoy some early screens of the work-in-progress!
